On Wednesday, The Arizona Coyotes faced the potential threat of being locked out of Gila River Arena, their home rink in Glendale, Arizona due to delinquent tax payments.

The Coyotes had originally labeled it just a clerical error, but regardless of what it was, the city of Glendale gave the organization until December 20th to square up, otherwise the team would have been without an arena for their remaining home games.

According to several sources, the Coyotes made good on their promise to pay the outstanding taxes, wiring $1.4M to the city of Glendale to clear the debt.

This does not help the team beyond this season however, as Gila River Arena and the city will not renew the Coyotes' lease, meaning they'll need a new home for the 2022-23 season.

There were rumours last month claiming that the team had been put up for sale with the intent of moving the franchise to Houston, Texas. The organization have since denied the rumours.
