Late on Sunday night, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they had fired Head Coach Travis Green and General Manager Jim Benning, among others, after the team's poor start to the 2021-22 season.

Bruce Boudreau, who currently sits 22nd on the NHL's all-time coaching wins list, was brought in to lead the team behind the bench, while former Canuck Stan Smyl was named interim General Manager.

Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini met with reporters on Monday afternoon to talk about the recent changes within the organization. He was asked if he's been too involved when it comes to the hockey side of things, and he responded with:

"Owners own, managers manage, coaches coach, players play. The minute you cross those lines there's no alignment anymore"

Earlier on Monday, Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News reported that the Vancouver Canucks were interested in former Montreal Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin to become their new GM Aquilini was asked about this possibility by reporters.

"I think Marc just wants to take it easy for a little bit," Aquilini said.

Newly appointed head coach Bruce Boudreau and the Vancouver Canucks will look to start off this new era on the right foot when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.
