Not even one month ago, Max Friberg suffered a serious injury after getting cut by a skate on the back of his leg. Friberg, who plays for Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), required immediate surgery as the skate had done some serious damage to his thigh muscle. It was thought he would be on the sidelines for months, but he may play again as early as Thursday night.

"I am happy! It's great to be back in full contact and to be able to get into a bit of close combat. I've missed that. That's hockey for me," said Friberg after resuming training this week.

"Max Friberg must convince me that he feels ready for all situations. If he is, then of course we play him. He is a central figure in our team, both as a person and as a player. So it means a lot that he is back," said Frolunda coach Roger Rönnberg.

Friberg was drafted into the NHL by the Anaheim Ducks in the fifth round in 2011. He would play six games for Anaheim, which is the entirety of his NHL career. He also played a few seasons in the AHL for the Norfolk Admirals, San Diego Gulls, and the St. John's Ice Caps, who were the farm team for the Montreal Canadiens before moving to Laval.
