The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced on Monday that Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been suspended three games for slew-footing Vancouver Canucks defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

The incident occurred about halfway through the first period of Sunday night's contest. Marchand and Ekman-Larsson skating towards Vancouver's bench, trying to win a puck race, when Marchand appears to kick Ekman-Larsson legs, causing him to fall. Marchand did not receive a penalty on the play.

Marchand, 33, has appeared in nineteen games for the Bruins this season, where he's recorded twenty-four points (nine goals, fifteen assists), thirty-two penalty minutes, and is a plus/minus-zero.

The Halifax, Nova Scotia native will be eligible to return to the Bruins lineup on Wednesday, December 8th against the Vancouver Canucks.
