The 2022 Winter Olympics are fast approaching, with just over two months until the puck drops on the men's hockey tournament. The twelve participating nations had to submit a provisional roster of 55 players to the IIHF on October 15th, with those rosters to be narrowed down in the first couple weeks of January.

According to Swedish website, Aftonbladet, Detroit Red Wings rookie Lucas Raymond was not named to Sweden's provisional roster, but after the incredible start he's had to the 2021-22 season, they're seeking an exemption from the IIHF in order to add him.

Hans Abrahamsson and Tomas Ros of Aftonbladet said, "But now the Swedish Ice Hockey Association has applied to add additional players, something that is confirmed by competition manager Olof Östblom who is also general manager for Tre Kronor . When asked if Tre Kronor can add additional players to the provisional squad, Östblom answers: Possibly, we have asked the question to the IIHF, but haven't received an answer as of yet."

It's unclear at this time who's on Sweden's 55-man roster, but the first three players announced last month by the IIHF are Mika Zibanejad, Victor Hedman, and Gabriel Landeskog.

Raymond, 19, is having a sensational start to his NHL career. In twenty-two games this season for the Detroit Red Wings, Raymond has twenty-one points (nine goals, twelve assists), four penalty minutes, and is a plus-two.
