The NHL's Department of Player Safety has concluded its hearing with San Jose Sharks forward Kevin Labanc for his slew-foot on St. Louis Blues forward Tyler Bozak, with the result being that Labanc has been issued a one-game suspension.

The league took the time to explain, in great detail, the rationale behind its decision to limit Labanc's suspension to just one game, despite the dangerous nature of the play. You can see the video explanation and breakdown of the play below.

As was outlined in the video, Labanc has no prior history of being fined or suspended by the league, which was ultimately one of the determining factors in why the suspension was limited to just one game.

As a result of his suspension, the 25-year-old will be forced to sit out Saturday night's matchup against the Washington Capitals. He will he eligible to return on Monday against the Carolina Hurricanes.
