The New York Rangers have been fantastic to start the 2021-22 season with a record of 10-4-3, and as a result are looking to add some more pieces in hopes of contending for a Stanley Cup.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, the Rangers are in the hunt for a forward, preferably one that can slide into their middle-six.

«The Rangers have been in the market for a forward for quite some time,» Dreger said. «And I think it's been amplified by the fact they lost Sammy Blais for the remainder of the season earlier this week. So, Chris Drury, the general manager for the New York Rangers, is looking for a middle-six forward, which isn't a term we use often in hockey. That can be a third-line player or someone who can punch into the top-six.

«U.S. Thanksgiving normally nudges the trade market a little, so there's nothing on the front burner but definitely Rangers are on the hunt.»

The Blais injury Dreger is referring to happened late last week when the former Blues forward got tied up with New Jersey Devils defenceman P.K. Subban. The result was a torn ACL, which is a devastating way to end the season for Blais who was fitting in nicely with his new team. It will be interesting to see who the Rangers look to add, as their offence is already extremely dangerous and could be even more so if young talents in Alexis Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko begin to figure things out. This will be a team to watch out for once the playoffs begin.
