Yesterday, the St. Louis Blues placed forward Kyle Clifford on waivers, and earlier on Tuesday afternoon he cleared, with no teams placing a waiver claim.

Just over two hours after passing through waivers, the Blues announced that they have traded Clifford back to his former team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, in exchange for future considerations.

The Ary, Ontario native spent 16 regular season games and five playoff games with the Maple Leafs in 2020 following a trade from the Los Angeles Kings. In those twenty-one total games, Clifford had three points (one goal, two assists), and twenty-three penalty minutes.

Clifford will be assigned to the Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies according to Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoff.

The 30-year-old is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2022.
