The Canucks are off to terrible start to their 2021-22 campaign. Through sixteen games, the team has a record of 5-9-2, and allowed nineteen goals on their most recent three-game road trip.

Team owner Francesco Aquilini accompanied the Canucks on their three-game road trip in Colorado, Vegas, and Anaheim, and more than likely was not happy with what he saw.

According to reports, Aquilini met with Jim Benning on Tuesday afternoon, although there was no discussion about the general manager's future at this time.

"Canucks GM, Jim Benning met with ownership today to discuss Vancouver's early season challenges and how the group can be better," said TSN's Darren Dreger. "Don't expect drastic off-ice changes. For the moment, the plan is to remain patient and continue to work with the team and personnel."

Collectively, the Canucks are underperforming but, Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser are two names that stand out. Pettersson signed a three-year contract just before the start of the season worth $7.35 million per season. So far, the Sundsvall, Sweden native has only recorded three goals and nine points in those sixteen games.

As for Boeser, he's in the final year of his contract and will be an RFA at season's end, and is currently earning $5.875 million AAV. In thirteen games, Boeser has four goals and eight points.

It's hard to pinpoint exactly what the issue is in Vancouver. Is it time to fire head coach Travis Green or is management to blame and it's time to relieve Jim Benning of his duties as GM? Only time will tell, but if the Canucks continue to slump in the second-half of November, change will happen.
