Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar announced on Monday that forward J.T. Compher will miss about a month of action due to an upper-body injury.

He suffered the injury on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks. Compher left the game in the first period and did not return. After the game, Bednar told reporters that he wasn't sure how long Compher would be out for and added that the 26-year-old was "Not doing great right now."

The Northbrook, Illinois native has appeared in twelve games for the Avalanche this season where he's tallied nine points (five goals, four assists), six penalty minutes, and is a +/-0.

Bednar also told reporters that rookie defenceman Bowen Byram is in concussion protocol after taking an elbow to the head on November 11th from Vancouver Canucks forward Bo Horvat. This is Byram's second concussion in 2021, the first he suffered in late-March against the Vegas Golden Knights, which caused him to miss roughly two months.

Byram, 20, was having a great start to his 2021-22 campaign. In eleven games, the Cranbrook, British Columbia native has eight points (three goals, five assists), two penalty minutes, and is a plus-five.
