After days of saying it would do everything in its power to ensure games went ahead as scheduled, the NHL has finally given in. The league has decided to approve a three-game postponement for the Ottawa Senators, who are being hit hard by an outbreak of COVID-19 at the moment.

At last check, 10 members of the Senators were in COVID protocol, as well as one associate coach. The team has called up several members of the AHL's Belleville Senators, as well as signing on defenceman to a two-way deal in order to meet roster requirements.

The Sens schedule had them in New Jersey on Tuesday, hosting the Nashville Predators on Thursday and then the New York Rangers Saturday. No word right now on makeup dates for those games.

If this has to happen for more team, it may end up impacting the NHL's participation at the Winter Olympics in February. The league has until January 10th to withdraw.
