A hard-nosed veteran forward has found his way onto waivers on Monday, as the St. Louis Blues have waived gritty winger Kyle Clifford for the purpose of assigning him to the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds.

Clifford, who is in the second year of a two-year deal with the Blues, has found his way into just two games this season, registering one assist.

The 30-year-old is in his 12th NHL season, but had spent the vast majority of his career with the Los Angeles Kings, playing 10 seasons with the team that drafted him in the 2nd round, 35th overall, back in 2009.

The two-time Stanley Cup winner also enjoyed a 16-game cup of coffee with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2020 after coming over from LA in the trade that brought Jack Campbell to Toronto in exchange for forward Trevor Moore and two 3rd-round picks.

Clifford carries a $1M cap hit, so his salary is a completely buriable amount for the Blues if he clears waivers at 2:00p.m. ET on Tuesday.
