In late October, Bratislava Capitals forward Boris Sadecky collapsed during a game against the Dornbirn Bulldogs in the ICE Hockey League. A few days later, Sadecky passed away.

The news for the Bratislava Capitals went from bad to worse after their general manager Dusan Pasek Jr was found dead of a suspected suicide in his home only a couple days after Sadecky passed away.

In a note, Pasek Jr felt responsible for Sadecky's death. A police source said that Sadecky was not in good health at the start of the season, and Pasek Jr told Sadecky to keep playing and not to go through any further examinations as he would miss games due to being under observation.

Flash forward to today, the Final Qualification round for the Women's Olympic tournament is underway and on Slovakia's roster is Sadecky's cousin, Rebeka Sadecka. To honour her cousin, Rebeka has his name, Boris, on her helmet throughout the Qualification event.

Unfortunately for Rebeka and her Slovak teammates, their chances of qualifying for Beijing 2022 have been dashed after losing their first two games against Sweden and France.
