This summer, after spending sixteen years in the NHL, forward Valtteri Filppula signed with in the National League, Switzerland's top division, with Geneve-Servette HC.

The 37-year-old has had a great campaign thus far in Switzerland. In 20 games, he's tallied 21 points (8 G, 13 A). His hot start to the season has caught the eye of one of the biggest clubs in Switzerland, HC Davos.

HC Davos announced on Saturday that they've agreed to terms with Geneve-Servette HC on a loan for Valtteri Filppula for the 2021 Spengler Cup in late-December.

Along with Filppula, HC Davos has also brought in the National League's leading scorer, Jesper Olofsson, as well as Olofsson's teammate, Harri Pesonen.

"With these players, we get a little bit of everything. We can benefit from Filppula's great NHL experience and leadership, Olofsson is a true scorer and will cause a lot of activity in front of the opposing goal, and Pesonen can bring a lot of energy and creativity to the team's offence. The balance should be so perfect." -HC Davos' general manager Jan Alston.
