Nicolas Aube-Kubel has a new home
When the Philadelphia Flyers put Nicolas Aube-Kubel on waivers Friday, they were hoping they might be able to sneak him through in order to send him to Lehigh Valley in the AHL. The Flyers took the gamble and lost, as Aube-Kubel has been claimed.
The 48th overall pick on 2014 now finds himself a member of the Colorado Avalanche after being picked up on waivers.
The decision to put him on wavers came on the back of a disappointing start to the 2021 campaign. Aube-Kubel only had one point through 7 appearances at the time of his waiving and continued his decline after a step back in 2020.The 25-year-old brings a ton of energy and physicality to the ice, but the Flyers were apparently hoping for more.
