The 2021-22 season hasn't started the way Chicago Blackhawks forward Dylan Strome had hoped, as he found himself in the doghouse early and often, healthy scratched for the first four games of the new campaign.

For whatever reason, former head coach Jeremy Colliton did not seem to be a fan of the 24-year-old's game. However, Colliton was just recently fired, giving Strome a new opportunity with the Blackhawks. It appears that interim coach Derek King is willing to give Strome a chance to prove himself, and he was able to do that on Friday night, scoring his first goal of the season. After the game, he gave reporters quite the quote, one that many believe was a shot at his former bench boss.

«It actually was nice to get the goal because I took that dumb penalty in the corner with five seconds left in the period,» Strome said. «Felt nicer because I did that. Nice to have that confidence by the coach to get you out there after you made a mistake.»

Oh boy. There had been rumors throughout Colliton's four seasons with the team that he wasn't well liked in the dressing room, and while that remains unknown, it is pretty clear that Strome himself wasn't a fan. Perhaps the coaching change was what he needed to get his career back on track.
