The Ottawa Senators are in a tough position. Their COVID outbreak is currently at nine players and two coaches, while the injuries are piling up on the blue line. Last night, the team lost Artyom Zub to an upper-body injury, and now, the news just keeps getting worse.

According to Bruce Garrioch and Darren Dreger of TSN, Senators defenceman Erik Brannstrom will miss at least two months with a broken hand. Further tests are needed to determine whether or not the young Swede will need surgery.

"Sounds like Brannstrom will be out at least two months with a broken hand. Trying to determine whether surgery is required or not," Garrioch said in a tweet on Friday evening.

He later added the the injury was the result of blocking a shot.

Brannstrom, 22, has played in two games for Ottawa this season, but has spent the majority of the season with their AHL affiliate in Belleville. In 9 games with Belleville, the Eksjo, Sweden native has three points (one goal, two assists), ten penalty minutes, and is a minus-five.
