At least one person is not a fan of John Tortorella's recent comments on Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid. Tortorella, who now serves as an analyst with ESPN, was asked Thursday night about a lack of calls drawn by McDavid.

"Yeah and he complained about it a little bit, that he wasn't getting the calls. Quite honestly, just shut up. Don't talk about it," said Tortorella.

"I do think he has to change his game a bit. Not turn into a checker, obviously. He's talked about culture, he's talked about standards, he's talked about winning. You're not just going to fill the net during the playoffs and outscore teams. You have to play on the other side of the puck. You have to have that business-type attitude of, 'Nothing's going to bother me, no matter how you're going to check me'," Torts added.

Frank Seravalli, formerly of TSN and now with Daily Faceoff, isn't impressed with Tortorella's comments.

"Still baffled that the high-level analysis on Connor McDavid from @JohnTortorella2 on ESPN is 'shut up'," said Seravalli, followed by an exploding head emoji.

"If the best player on the planet needs to change his game to be successful in the playoffs, we probably should be talking more about the game needing to change than him."

Meanwhile, Arthur Staple of The Athletic has an entirely different analysis.

"Are there many fans out there who care whether Connor McDavid gets more calls? I'm sure he does. But it's framed as a 'hockey would be better if he did' thing, which seems false. There are no fans of hockey, the sport -- there's fans of teams and they want their teams to win."
