Some scary moments in the game Thursday night between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Minnesota Wild. In the first period, Knights' defenceman Alec Martinez was struck in the face by the skate blade of the Wild's Brandon Duhaime. Martinez would leave the game immediately and did not return. If you look closely at the video, you can also clearly see one of his teeth falling out and hitting the ice.

Following the game, which Vegas won 3-2, Golden Knights' coach Peter DeBoer provided an update on Martinez.

"Ugly, ugly cut," said Deboer. "I don't have an exact number in the stitches, but I had heard over 50."

There's no word at the moment on how much time, if any, Martinez will miss as a result of the injury. This was an obvious fluke play and one where Martinez is likely lucky the skate blade wasn't a bit lower where it could catch him in the neck.
