A terrifying scene occurred in last night's game between the Blainville-Broisbriand Armada and the Cape Breton Eagles as a player was stretchered off.

Armada defenseman and former teammate of Juraj Slafkovsky, Samuel Kupec, went through a scary moment during the game, as he was taken off the ice on a stretcher and then whisked away to the hospital.

The 18-year-old was laying motionless for more than 10 agonizing minutes, the arena bathed in tense silence as players and fans alike looked on with concern. Those were minutes nobody ever wanted to see in hockey.

Hit from behind by Angelo Fullerton of the Eagles on Samuel Kupec of the Armada.

Fullerton ejected, and Kupec leaves the ice on a stretcher.

Out of respect to Kupec, none of the images of the actual incident will be shared. The priority, however, is the young player's health and recovery.

What happened was that it was after a dangerous hit from behind from Angelo Fullerton, which then led Kupec to lay motionless on the ice afterward, with immediate medical attention being required.

Thankfully, there's some good news to report: Kupec is apparently on the mend, as of this morning. But there's little doubt he'll be out of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada lineup for a while.

Kupec is a 6-foot-2 left-handed defenseman weighing 212 pounds; he is playing his first QMJHL season.

He has four points, 14 penalty minutes, and a +1 rating in 19 games so far this season, showing that he has potential after developing two seasons in Slovakia.

Everyone from the hockey fraternity wishes Kupec the best in his recovery, hoping that he will get back to his regular sessions on the ice, once it is the right time to do so.
