A sad ending to a story we covered on the weekend out of Austria. On Saturday, Boris Sadecky of the Bratislava Capitals collapsed to the ice near the end of the first period in a game against the Dornbirn Bulldogs without any interference of any kind. He was rushed to hospital by ambulance and the game was cancelled. There's been an update from The ICE Hockey League (International Central European Hockey League) and it isn't good.

"With deep sadness and regret in our hearts we announce the death of our player Boris Sádecky. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. After consulting Boris' family, we will not publish any further information at the moment. We ask everyone to respect the privacy," said sports director Dusan Pasek.

Sadecky had been playing professional hockey since 2015, mostly in his home country of Slovakia. He also played two seasons in the KHL, suiting up for 42 games in total. He had just joined the Bratislava Capitals over the summer and had managed seven points (4G, 3A) in 11 games. Our sincere condolences to the family, friends and fans of Boris Sadecky.
