Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed to media on Wednesday morning that both Sidney Crosby and Brian Dumoulin have tested positive for COVID-19.

Sullivan also said that Crosby is experiencing mild symptoms. This is frustrating for the Penguins who have been ravished by injuries this season. The frustration is felt by Crosby in particular, as he has only been able to play in one game to this point due to a wrist injury that kept him out of his teams first seven games this season.

The Penguins, who are already without Evgeni Malkin, will have to hope both Crosby and Dumoulin are able to return to the lineup soon, as through eight games on the season their 3-3-2 record has them in eighth place in the Metropolitan Division. Given the injuries and now COVID situation they are dealing with, they could be in tough to qualify for the playoffs this season due to how much certain teams in their division have improved.
