According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, Minnesota Wild forward Brandon Duhaime has avoided any supplemental discipline following his hit on Colorado Avalanche defenceman Bowen Byram.

"Told Brandon Duhaime won't face further discipline for last night's cross-checking major on the #avs' Bowen Byram. Big break for the #mnwild, who are without Mats Zuccarello, Rem Pitlick, Jordan Greenway and Alex Goligoski. Nico Sturm also looked banged up after the game," Russo said in a tweet on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred early in the third period of Saturday night's contest between the Wild and Avalanche. Byram was skating back to retrieve the puck in Colorado's zone when Duhaime crosschecked him on the numbers causing the Avalanche defenceman to crash into the boards. Byram's teammate Nathan MacKinnon came to his defence and fought Duhaime.

Duhaime received a five-minute major for cross checking, a game misconduct, and a two minute minor for roughing, while Nathan MacKinnon received two minutes for roughing.

Byram appeared to be okay, and stayed in the game, playing seven more shifts in the third period as the Avalanche went on to win 4-1.

Following the game, MacKinnon called the play "very dirty" and said that there has to be a suspension.

"I thought that that was a very dirty play. I think he should get suspended," MacKinnon said.

The two division rivals won't meet again until January 17th in Denver.
