Despite being used in a top four role for the entirety of the 2020-21 season, the majority of Chicago Blackhawks supporters are not fans of defenceman Calvin de Haan, and have let that be known during his two seasons with the team.

The 30-year-old defenceman is clearly aware of this, and had some fun at his own expense when talking to the media on Friday.

"Sorry fans, I'm still here!", he said when asked by media about the possibility of being claimed by the Seattle Kraken in the expansion draft.

Instead, the Kraken selected forward John Quenneville, which was a bit of a shocker considering he wasn't viewed as an NHL talent at the time, and is now playing overseas. Nonetheless, de Haan will remain a member of the Blackhawks. Hopefully, the fact that they improved in a big way this offseason can help de Haan improve in 2021-22 and get fans on his side.
