Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans has landed himself a nice contract extension with the team after playing in his first NHL season last year. He has signed a new three-year deal that carries an AAV of $1.7 million.

Evans, who was drafted in the seventh round, registered 13 points (3 goals, 10 assists) in 2020-21, playing 47 games with the Canadiens. The 25-year-old center also skated in seven playoff contests, collecting one goal and one assist, and serving four penalty minutes.

Meanwhile, Following their 2-1 win over the Ottawa Senators Saturday night, the Montreal Canadiens announced seven more cuts to their training camp roster.

The players that were cut are Brandon Baddock, Laurent Dauphin, Michael McNiven, Jean-Sebastien Dea, Jean-Christophe Beaudin, Tobie Bisson and Corey Schueneman.

Beaudin, Bisson, and Schueneman have been assigned directly to the Laval Rocket for their training camp, while Baddock, Dauphin, McNiven and Dea will have to clear waivers at 2pm ET on Monday before they can go to Laval.
