Tyler Bertuzzi has spoken with reporters after it was announced that he was the only member of the Detroit Red Wings to not get the COVID-19 vaccination. The decision means he won't be able to cross the Canada-US border for games, and will lose anywhere between $400,000 and $500,000 this season as the league has said unvaccinated players will not get paid for games they miss.

Bertuzzi told reporters it was a "life choice" not to get the vaccine, and adds he talked it over with his family before making his decision. He also insisted his teammates don't have an issue with it.

«Everything is good, same as normal,» Bertuzzi said.

In all, Bertuzzi will miss nine games in the 2021-22 season due to his decision. He said he's fine with that and reiterated that it was a "personal decision." However, he would not elaborate past that.

«It was pretty set in stone,» Bertuzzi said.
