Even though the Seattle Kraken franchise is technically only a few weeks old, the organization has made its fair share of headlines already. From several unexpected picks in the expansion draft to a competitive approach in the free agent market, the team is certainly creating a buzz. Now, it's the fans turn in seems.

People in Seattle were treated to quite the spectacle Sunday on the waters of Lake Union, when a HUGE inflatable Kraken-like creature was seen on the roof of a boat undoubtedly belonging to a Kraken fan. It even caught the attention of the NHL.

However, not everyone was pleased with the display. Some fans of the Detroit Red Wings were quick to accuse the Kraken of "stealing" their mascot. For those who don't know, Red Wings mascot Al is a purple octopus. The resemblance between the Seattle team animal and that of the Wings is undeniable.

That said, the Detroit Red Wings themselves were quick to point out that the Kraken mascot is more like a squid than an octopus. Yes, they are related, but they aren't the same thing. The Red Wings also used the handshake emoji in what appears to be a seal of approval.

If nothing else, perhaps this is a good way to create a future rivalry.
