Boston Bruins defenseman Mike Reilly was picked up at the trade deadline to try and bolster their back end, and the team evidently liked what they saw from him. According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, Reilly and the Bruins agreed to a new contract with a duration of 3 years and an AAV of $3 million.
He has indeed, three years, $3M AAV for Mike Reilly in Boston according to a source https://t.co/sFJy08oxLo— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 27, 2021
The 28-year-old has bounced around since starting his career in Minnesota, moving on to Montreal, and later Ottawa, but it seems that he has found a spot in Boston.
Reilly was asked to take on a bigger role with the Bruins and he transitioned very well to the expanded role due to Boston's depleted d-core. With Ottawa he had 19 assists in 40 games, but with the Bruins he added eight more assists in 15 games while also logging over 21 minutes per game. He also tallied 4 assists in the postseason helping the Bruins' playoff run.
