A trio of recognizable RFA's were left without a qualifying offer on Monday and, as a result, they will become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday and will be free to sign with any team they choose.

The Boston Bruins elected not to qualify either of Ondrej Kase and Nick Ritchie on Monday, despite rumours that Ritchie would, in fact, earn a qualifying offer after scoring a career-high 15 goals in 2020-21.

Ritchie, a top-10 pick (10th-overall in 2014) is a hard-nosed winger who brings that physical element that can really help a team during the postseason. If he can build on his new-found goalscoring prowess, he could be check a lot of boxes for a team in a bottom-six or even a middle-six capacity.

Kase, on the other hand, was thought to be a candidate to not receive a qualifying offer due to his extensive injury history. The 25-year-old played just 3 games for the Bruins last season and has yet to play a full NHL season, primarily because of his inability to remain healthy.

Kase, when healthy, is a player. He managed a career-high 20 goals and 38 points in 66 games during his sophomore season in 2017-18.

The San Jose Sharks have elected not to qualify forward Ryan Donato after managing just 20 points in 50 games while receiving plenty of opportunity in a top-six role with the Sharks last season.

The 25-year-old has now played with 3 different teams in the last 4 years. A 2nd-round pick back in 2014, Donato has an important summer ahead of him as he will undoubtedly look to parlay his next opportunity into a longer-term situation.
