The Vancouver Canucks have had many prospects over the years, but now one is being mourned after his tragic and untimely passing at the age of 50.

Back in 1994, the Vancouver Canucks took a chance on Saskatchewan native Rob Trumbley in the eighth round, and while he never ended up making the NHL with the team, he had a solid career nonetheless.

That career took him from the WHL with Moose Jaw to the ECHL and even the AHL, but ultimately, he would never realize his dream of playing in the NHL, despite posting a solid 37 points in 34 games in his final ECHL season with the Wheeling Nailers in 1996/97.

After that, he would play hockey all over the world, but mainly in the United Kingdom, playing for teams such as the Newcastle Vipers, Manchester Storm and Hull Thunder before calling it quits in 2005.

Unfortunately, news has now broken that at 50-years of age, the talented player and even better person has tragically passed away, as announced on social media, with tributes pouring in from the hockey world.

Trumbley hadn't been involved in hockey for quite some time before his tragic and unexpected passing, but his memory will live long in the lives of those that knew him most.

Reportedly, Trumbley was beloved by all of his teammates throughout his fantastic career, and while he never made the top level, he was a fantastic leader and veteran on and off the ice throughout.

We take this team to send our deepest condolences to Trubmley's family, friends, former teammates and coaches, and hope that in one of the toughest times of their lives, they can find some comfort in the memories of a fantastic player and an even better person.

Rest in Peace, Rob Trumbley.
