The NHL's offseason has been crazy thus far, and it is just starting. The Vancouver Canucks are among the teams that have been making moves this summer, even with limited cap space.
A year after signing Brayden Holtby as an unrestricted free agent, the team is trying to move him via either a trade or worst case scenario, a buyout. Thatcher Demko has locked down the starting spot, and Holtby is still taking up a cap hit of $4.3 million.
There are several teams interested in Holtby and among them are the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs, two of the top teams in the league. Along with these two teams, the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres are also among the teams interested in the veteran goaltender.

If the team cannot find a trade partner, they will have until Tuesday to decide if they would like to buy him out or not. Although, the Canucks could wait a few days after free agency opens to see if they can find a better suitor for the 31-year-old. Holtby went 7-11-3 for Vancouver last season, posting a 3.67 GAA and a .889 save percentage.
