After splitting the 2020-21 season with the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche, Swedish defenceman Patrik Nemeth is reportedly joining the New York Rangers according to Larry Brooks of the New York Post.

"The marriage cannot be consummated until the market officially opens at noon on Wednesday, but The Post has learned that the Rangers are expected to fortify their defense by signing 29-year-old Swedish free agent Patrik Nemeth once the bell rings," Brooks said on Monday.

He went on to add that it'll likely be a two or three-year contract in the $2.25-$2.75 million range. "The deal would likely be for two or three years, worth between $2.25-$2.75 million per season. The Avalanche have given permission to Nemeth to speak to other teams in advance of the opening of the market."

Nemeth, 29, as mentioned played the 2020-21 season with Detroit and Colorado. In 52 regular season games, he recorded 10 points (3 G, 7 A), 20 penalty minutes, and was a +5.
