Over the past few months, speculation has picked up as to where current Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Dougie Hamilton will end up for the 2021-22 season.

The teams talked about the most are the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers, while a return to the Hurricanes has yet to be ruled out. However, according to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, a new candidate has emerged in the Edmonton Oilers. Seravalli brought up the fact that Hamilton makes a ton of sense for them and produces in a similar way to Tyson Barrie, who spent the 2020-21 in Edmonton but is also set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Hamilton, 28, has spent the last three seasons with the Hurricanes and has truly emerged into an elite defenceman. In 55 games this past season, he registered 10 goals and 42 points while also having a plus/minus of plus20. He will likely command a seven-year deal with a cap hit around $8 million.
