Toronto Maple Leafs winger Zach Hyman is expected to be one of the most chased forwards in free agency, but he may be signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Not to play with them again, but to be a part of a sign and trade.

Hyman met with the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday, and many other teams will be meeting with him soon. If Hyman signs with the Maple Leafs and then is traded, he can be offered an 8-year deal rather than just a 7-year contract.

The Toronto native is looking for a long term contract with at least $6 million yearly. The Leafs would struggle heavily to sign him due to commitments to John Tavares, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander. With that being said, Chris Johnston reports that the Maple Leafs are leaving the door open to a sign and trade.

Hyman recorded 15 goals and 33 points in 43 games last season. He is also a huge asset both on the power play and penalty kill.
