The Seattle Kraken are on the cusp of officially announcing their 30 picks in the expansion draft. Though the picks have already been leaked by Frank Seravalli and Pierre LeBrun, it does not eliminate the possibility of some trades being announced this evening if teams wanted to avoid losing the player that had been selected.

Earlier today, Seattle announced deals for both goaltender Chris Driedger and defenseman Adam Larsson and now it appears as though a third player has officially signed.

Per Elliotte Friedman, defenseman Jamie Oleksiak has signed a 5-year deal with the Kraken worth approximately $4.6M per season.

Oleksiak, 28, is a lumbering, hard-nosed defensive defenseman and was a 1st-round draft pick by the Dallas Stars back in 2011.

I can't help but feel as though this deal is a tad too rich, but at the end of the day, the Kraken will need to reach the cap floor and don't appear to be in any real danger of facing cap issues anytime in the near future with over $35M in available cap space.
