Seattle Kraken GM Ron Francis appears to be wasting no time in securing at least one goaltender ahead of the July 21st expansion draft, effectively setting a precedent that it's about building from the net out in Seattle.

Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Kraken are working with pending UFA Florida Panthers goaltender Chris Driedger's camp on a multi-year deal that would make Driedger the club's first goaltender in franchise history.

Friedman suggests that the contract would carry a 3-year term in the neighborhood of $3.5M per season. Not too shabby for a 27-year-old goalie with just 41 games of NHL experience.

The fact that Driedger looks poised to occupy one of the Kraken's roster spots in goal does not impact their decision to pursue Habs goalie Carey Price, according to Friedman. Price still appears to be very much in play.

Driedger played 23 games for the Panthers in 2020-21, posting a 14-6-3 record and carrying a sparkling 2.07 GAA and a .927 SV% with 3 shutouts.

If the Kraken do indeed lock up Driedger, he will be the team's pick from Florida on July 21st, per the rules of the expansion draft.
