A 6-foot-4 power forward was unexpectedly traded by the Anaheim Ducks to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday afternoon.

In breaking news, a minor trade occurred between two Pacific Division teams: the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks.

Indeed, the Ducks sent the forward Pavol Regenda to the San Jose Sharks in return for Justin Bailey.

Per Eric Stephens:

"Small trade between the Ducks and Sharks this morning as Pavol Regenda is dealt to San Jose for Justin Bailey. Both have been in the AHL. Bailey played in 59 games with the Sharks last season. Regenda has played in 19 NHL games with Anaheim, 14 of them coming in 2022-23."

Both players have spent the current season in the AHL, playing depth roles for their teams.

Let's take a look at each of them individually.

Pavol Regenda is a 25-year-old undrafted winger from Slovakia who played 19 games with the Anaheim Ducks between 2022 and 2024, scoring three points, including one goal.

The 6-foot-3, 219 pounds forward has 16 points, including four goals, in 36 games this season for the San Diego Gulls. He also tallied 26 penalty minutes and has a -15 rating.

The 2022 Olympics bronze medalist has all it takes to contribute offensively in the NHL, and it'll be interesting to see how he'll fit in the Sharks' organization.

As for Justin Bailey, the Buffalo Sabres' 52nd overall pick at the 2013 NHL draft has much more NHL experience, having played in 141 games in his career for the Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, and San Jose Sharks.

He had the best season of his career last year, tallying five goals and nine assists in 59 games with the Sharks.

The 29-year-old, 6-foot-4 forward is an interesting addition for the Ducks. This year, he scored seven goals and seven assists in 33 games with the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL.
