Washington Capitals Top Prospect Cam Allen Suspended From League After Arrest
It was confirmed today, that following his arrest for driving while under the influence, Washington Capitals top prospect Cam Allen has been suspended by the OHL.
The OHL, one of the three top junior leagues in Canada, released the following statement early this morning, coming to a verdict on Allen's horrible actions.
Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that London Knights player Cam Allen has been suspended pending the outcome of a League review into the events of February 8, 2025 when he was charged by the London Police Service with offences related to impaired driving.
If you hadn't yet heard, Allen was arrested on Saturday after he fled the scene of a hit-and-run that he caused.
Per the police report, Allen is set to face charges on March 6th, and now, via the OHL ruling, he will not play hockey at least until then.
A London man was arrested yesterday morning after members of the London Police Service Uniformed Division responded to a running unoccupied vehicle that appeared to have been involved in a collision in the south end of the city.
On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., a citizen called 911 in relation to a single vehicle collision in the area of Colonel Talbot Road near Clayton Walk. Police were advised what appeared to be bl**d had been located on the driver's side door and leading away from the vehicle.
Officers arrived and located the vehicle. The driver was located and arrested a short distance away at a nearby address.
One of the passengers was transported by paramedic services to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Cameron Allen, 20, of London, is charged with the following offences:
Impaired operation of a conveyance; Impaired operation exceed blood alcohol concentration; Fail to remain; Fail to report accident; and, Novice driver- bl**d alcohol concentration above zero.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in London court on March 6, 2025, in relation to the charges.
Allen, who was once considered a top prospect for the 2023 draft, projected to go in the top-10 or early teens of the first-round, fell off a cliff in his draft year, being selected in the fifth round by the Washington Capitals.
He rebounded quickly, signing his entry-level contract in his first year post-draft, but has now likely crushed his dreams of ever playing in the league.
We will see on March 6th how the courts choose to treat the 20-year-old Allen.
