As the Montreal Canadiens get ready to face Utah Hockey Club tonight, Habs rookie Emil Heineman has confirmed he was hit by a car in the state last night.

Just two days after Michael Bunting of the Pittsburgh Penguins was involved in a car accident comes word of yet another involving an NHL player.

Reports out of Sweden, Emil Heineman's home country, quote the star rookie's agent Marcus Isaksson, who says Heineman was in a car accident in Utah in advance of tonight's game against Utah Hockey Club.

"Right now we are waiting for an update from North America. He has been hit by a car, but it is nothing very serious. Maybe a broken ankle and a specialist will look at the injury."

That would be a big blow to the surging Montreal Canadiens, as Emil Heineman has been having a great rookie year. His NHL stats page shows 10 goals and 7 assists for 17 points in 41 games.

So far, there has been no statement or even acknowledgement of the injury from the Montreal Canadiens

Heineman has had better production that Philadelphia Flyers rookie Matvei Michkov over the last month, after being brought to the Canadiens training camp in September and unexpectedly earning a spot in the lineup.

This is a developing story and we will update it with any new information once it comes out.
