Cayden Primeau was waived on Saturday after a poor start to the year, and now the former Canadiens top prospect has found himself a new home as he looks to continue his journey in the NHL.

The story of the weekend for the Montreal Canadiens has been former fifth-round draft pick Jakub Dobes, who shutout the defending Stanley Cup Champions in his NHL debut on Saturday.

The 23-year old looked very comfortable in net, and after two fantastic years of play at the AHL level, it's safe to say that Canadiens fans believe they have a solid piece of their future now in net.

Unfortunately, that meant that Cayden Primeau was placed on waivers after the Canadiens had such high hopes for him, but after a 4.70 GAA and an .836 save percentage, he just wasn't cutting it.

Despite a promising start to his career, Primeau's play behind a poor Canadiens team has fallen off in recent times, and now, another team out there could be ready to take a big chance on him.

On Sunday, top NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has now confirmed where Primeau's future in the NHL is, revealing that he was/wasn't claimed on waivers, with a long road back to potentially being a starter at the NHL level.

At just 25-years of age, there's still plenty of time for Primeau to make his mark at the NHL level, and after posting a .910 save percentage in 23 games a year ago, he's clearly got the talent and just needs the right situation.

Only time will tell whether or not this is the right one for him, but with plenty of time to continue his development at the NHL level, we certainly haven't seen the last of Cayden Primeau as a solid netminder in the NHL.
