Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Ole Julian Bjørgvik Holm was stretchered off the ice today after taking a hit into the boards.

Ole Julian Bjørgvik Holm is a prospect for the Columbus Blue Jackets currently playing in the American Hockey League with the Cleveland Monsters.

The 6'3" defenseman hails from Norway but came to the United States to play his junior hockey ahead of the 2020 draft.

He then went on to play for the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL in his draft year, putting up 19 points in 57 games.

The Blue Jackets selected him in the 5th round, 145th overall in that year's draft.

Since then he has bounced between the AHL and ECHL as he struggles to establish himself in North American professional hockey.

This season though, he finally established himself as an everyday player for the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL, putting up 2 goals and 6 points in 40 games for the club so far.

Unfortunately though, his journey to the NHL may have just suffered a huge setback as he faces a serious injury.

The 22-year-old blueliner had to be stretchered off the ice in this afternoon's matchup between the Monsters and the Belleville Senators after he was checked into the boards from behind by Senators forward Hayden Hodgson.

Hodgson, a career AHL player, was never drafted. He was given a major penalty and a game misconduct for the hit, and could potentially face a suspension given the severity of the injury it caused.

Hopefully Ole Julian will be okay and make a full recovery. We are sending him and his loved ones our best wishes in this scary moment.
