Chris Kreider makes fun of Martin St. Louis at showcase event
Veteran Rangers forward Chris Kreider caught the attention of many fans after making fun of Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis during the Shoulder Check Showcase.
The Shoulder Check Showcase is a new but important event for hockey players and NHL fans across the continent. Inspired by the sudden loss of former Junior Rangers player Hayden Cole Thorsen, HT40 raises money for services for players struggling with their mental health. For its second year, a few members of the New York Rangers joined in for the event. Among these players were Chris Kreider, Jonathan Quick, and Matt Rempe.
What could have been a more somber night was kept lighthearted by the action on the ice and the crowd's liveliness. Yet, what many regard as the highlight of the night was a shootout move made by Chris Kreider. After starting down the ice, he pivoted to monetarily skate backward before turning back inward and shooting. After making the shot, he pointed towards Martin St. Louis, who was coaching the White team.
That was one of St. Louis go-to shootout moves."
This was a clear way to either make fun of or shout out Martin St. Louis who became known for this shootout style. He even demonstrated that he can still do this as recently as April of last year.
Whether or not Chris Kreider was trying to mock Martin St. Louis is not known exactly. However, he got more eyes looking at the Shoulder Check Showcase, which is a much more important goal for both of them.
