Long time hockey coach Bob Jones sadly passed away yesterday after a battle with ALS.

Jones was an assistant coach for the Ottawa Senators for the last five seasons after he spent nearly three decades coaching in the Ontario Hockey League, one of the top developmental leagues for NHL prospects. The Senators announced the news on the social media platforms.
We are saddened to learn of the passing of former Assistant Coach Bob Jones after his battle with ALS.

Our condolences to his wife Paige, children Blake and Brianna as well as all those he influenced across his nearly 30 year coaching career.
This comes about a year and a half after Bob sat down with Sportsnet reporter Christine Simpson. In January of 2023 the two got together to discuss the difficulties he faced since his diagnosis. More than anything though, the interview was designed to raise awareness for the disease, as we are still looking for a cure.
My heart goes out to the family & friends of former @Senators assistant coach Bob Jones. I'm so grateful I got to meet him & help him share his story. I'll always remember his courage in facing his ALS diagnosis and his wish to find a cure for others. May he RIP. 🙏
ALS is the same disease that Leafs legend Borje Salming struggled with at the end of his life. Salming was lucky in that the disease did not set in until he was already nearly 70 years old. Many with the condition are not so lucky.
Hall of Famer and Toronto Maple Leafs legend Börje Salming has passed away at the age of 71 after a battle with ALS.
Hopefully Bob's passing will help revitalize efforts to find a cure for ALS. If you want to be a part of the solution, you can help by donating to the ALS foundation here.
