Columbus Blue Jackets top prospect Jordan Dumais got himself in some serious trouble earlier this month when it was revealed that he had been booked for driving under the influence. Today we got an important update on the story.

Dumais arrested.

Initially, it was not clear what was going on earlier this month when Dumais was mysteriously absent from the Halifax Mooseheads. It quickly came out though that he had been booked after he failed a field sobriety test, reportedly blowing twice the legal limit.

Sources told @mat_paradis that Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Jordan Dumais obtained a DUI and blew twice above the legal Canadian limit.

Interestingly, the QMJHL appeared to not take any action on this. However, the Mooseheads handled it on their own, handing the star player a five-game suspension. This suspension was strictly enforced by the team, and not the league.

Word on the street #CBJ prospect and QMJHL star forward Jordan Dumais has been charged in Halifax. The Mooseheads have given him a 5 game suspension «due to off-ice matters.»

However, Dumais will soon have much more to worry about than a simple and rather short suspension. Today it was reported that he will be arraigned early next month in Halifax court as the legal process begins to take place.

UPDATE: #CBJ prospect Jordan Dumais is scheduled for arraignment on April 9 at 10 am ADT in Halifax Provincial Court, his first court appearance for two influence related offenses he was charged with earlier this month.

Under Canadian law, offenders can face up to ten years in jail. It is not clear what Dumais' sentence will look like at this time, but it certainly could impede his future in the NHL.
