A new report suggests that a Canadian team is considering to trade away their captain after yet another season of struggles.

Ottawa Senators Considering to Trade Brady Tkachuk, Per Ryan Whitney

Ryan Whitney, the former NHLer and co-host of the renowned podcast Spittin' Chiclets, shared on X a new rumor involving Brady Tkachuk and the Ottawa Senators.

He said that the Senators are preparing something and that it could be involving their captain.

Whitney added that this would be surprising to see it unfold:

"The Sens have something cooking right now. Rumor Boys hearing that Ottawa would maybe move Brady Tkachuk. Can't believe it though because no one could be that dumb. 9 points out of playoffs with 2 games in hand"

Senators Back in the Playoff Race? It Promises to be Tightly Disputed in the Atlantic Division

As Whitney observed, the Senators aren't that far from the playoffs. They've been playing well lately and it shows in the stands. They are only nine points away from a playoff berth and have two games in hand.

However, with the Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning also competing for a spot, it won't be easy if they want to make it happen.

Because the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs are almost guaranteed to clinch the first three spots in the division, the Sens will need a miracle to surpass both the Bolts and the Wings.

That miracle won't happen without Brady Tkachuk in the team, that's for sure.
