The Tampa Bay Lightning have placed forward Steven Stamkos on the NHL's COVID protocol list on Friday, per Lightning beat writer Bryan Burns.

Stamkos, 31, had left Tuesday evening's contest against the Nashville Predators with a lower-body injury, so he may be dealing with a bit of a double-whammy.

At this point, Stamkos and the Lightning suspect a false-positive, with the sniper reaching out to fans on Twitter to state that he hopes to be cleared to return in the coming days.

The Bolts' captain is off to a strong start in 2020-21, with 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points in just 11 games, bringing his career totals up to 429 goals and 846 points in 814 career NHL games.

At this time, Stamkos is the only player on the Lightning to have been added to the list, though as we have seen with other NHL teams, it may only be a matter of time before he has some company.
