I have to say, it's been a while since I've seen anything this brutal in a hockey game. During a game between two clubs involved in the Sochi Hockey Cup tournament in Russia this week, a player from HC Appolonoff was smacked three times in the face with a hockey stick by an opponent, while another grabbed him while he was lying on the ice in pain and started throwing punches at his head. What caused this incident is unclear, but the victim, Alexander Dzyzar, was clearly in a lot of pain as he was brought back to the dressing room. The video also shows a large cut on the head and another on the ear as what appears to be a team doctor or paramedic checks out his injuries. Take a look:

According to HC Appolonoff, the two players involved in what can only be described as a mugging have been kicked out of the tournament. The team states Dzyzar has a concussion along with other injuries as a result of the incident.

"The man did not contact me. He entered the locker room, dropped the 'sorry' and left," Dzyzar told Sport.ru. "That's all his apology. But after that, no one else contacted me and no one else apologized to me."
