The 1977 film Slapshot is a must-see for hockey fans, especially those who love old-time hockey where blood, missing teeth and fights were not just common but an integral part of the game. Unfortunately, Jeff Carlson, who played Hanson brother Jeff Hanson in the beloved film, is going through an extremely tough time and his son is reaching out for help.

"Over the last few years, he has had more and more medical issues first starting with cancer. After months of targeted radiation on his neck and chemotherapy, his cancer went into remission. Fast forward to a few months ago, he was constantly having neck pain/issues and finally had Cervical Discectomy surgery on his neck. To my understanding, they went in and fused C4-C7 in his neck," Hunter Carlson wrote.

"The surgery went well with no complications, but his neck had severe swelling and tissue damage from the targeted radiation. He had to stay in the hospital for over a week due to the swelling and inability to eat or drink. After some x-rays, they found out that the swelling was causing food/drink swallowed to enter his lungs instead of going to his stomach. The only option for him was to have another surgery to have Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy or PEG Tube put in. This feeding tube allows him to get the fluids/nutrients he needs. He is now required to have this tube for at least 6 weeks and could possibly have it for a lot longer."

Hunter goes on to explain his father is retired and is living off social security. After 10 days in the hospital and 2 surgeries, his medical bills are enormous and difficult to pay. The GoFundMe page has been set up to cover medical and everyday expenses while Jeff recovers.
