Per Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks have officially placed a player on waivers after making two trades last night.

The Vancouver completed two massive trades last night, and it appears that they had more roster moves in stock for us today.

Indeed, after trading J.T. Miller, Erik Brannstrom, and Jackson Dorrington to the New York Rangers in return for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a 2025 conditional first-round pick, as well as sending Danton Heinen, Vincent Desharnais, Melvin Fernstrom, and the Rangers' 2025 conditional pick to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor, Patrik Allvin announced yet another move.

In breaking news, we learned that the Canucks organization decided to place the 31-year-old veteran Phillip Di Giuseppe on waivers.

The renowned insider Elliotte Friedman made the announcement with the following post on X:

This season, Di Giuseppe, the Carolina Hurricanes' 38th overall pick in 2012 scored six points, including one goal, in 20 games with the Canucks.

Di Giuseppe is set to become a free agent at the end of the current season, as his two-year, $770k average annual value contract signed in the summer of 2023 will expire.

Despite his cap-friendly contract, it would be surprising to see a team claim Di Giuseppe from the waiver wire. He hasn't been able to have an impact on his team this season, and most organizations are struggling to maneuver under the salary cap.

With the trade deadline on the horizon, bigger-picture players will be available, so don't be surprised if he joins the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL on Sunday afternoon.

The Canucks' next game, set to take place tomorrow night against the Detroit Red Wings in Vancouver, will feature a very different team from the one we saw in their last game at Rogers Arena.

Details will follow.
