The deal is a three-year contract and carries an average annual value of $3.15 million.

Hintz played 60 games in the 2019-20 season and had 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points. It was his first full season in the NHL.

Hintz spent 4 seasons in SM-Liiga for Ilves Tempere and HIFK Helinski. His best season prior to coming to North America was the 2016-17 season for HIFK Helinski, in which he scored 19 goals and had 11 assists for 30 points in 44 games.
